The Faculty and Staff Resources webpage serves as a central hub for SIU faculty involved in online education, providing interactive training sessions, development funds for online courses and programs, and comprehensive resources to enhance online teaching and learning. It facilitates faculty support through initiatives like the Saluki Online Sessions and our partnership with the Center for Teaching Excellence, aiming to improve online pedagogy, inclusivity, and student engagement.

Saluki Online Sessions
Interactive 60-minute Sessions on Online Pedagogy for all SIU Online Instructors/Faculty.
These 60-minute Teams sessions empower SIU online instructors with resources and insights to enhance teaching, highlight key topics in online education, and foster collaboration for teaching growth and student success. Open to all SIU online faculty.

Proposals for 2025-2026 Saluki Online Faculty Fellow
Purpose: To improve online education at SIU
Outcome: To increase quality of courses and programs in SIU Online.
Target: Tenured SIU Carbondale Faculty will submit proposals which will investigate ways to increase online course and program quality and enrollment.
This position(s) is for fall 2025 with the possibility for renewal in spring 2026.
Eligibility: Fellows must be tenured faculty at the Associate or Full Professor level at Southern Illinois University Carbondale or Continuing NTT at the Associate Instructor/Clinical Professor level or higher level.
Application Procedure: Eligible faculty members should submit a Full Proposal relating to one or more of the Targeted Areas of Study listed below by April 1, a current CV, and letters of endorsement from the School Director and Dean to susan.wegmann@siu.edu. (Use the Full Proposal Outline below.) The course release will be funded through the SIU Online and Extended Campus unit.
Deadline: April 1, 2025
Selection: For the 2025-2026 academic year, one Saluki Online Faculty Fellow will be appointed by the SIU Online and Extended Campus unit based on area of interest, relevant experience, demonstrated leadership potential, and existing needs of the University at the time of selection.
Compensation: The Saluki Online Faculty Fellow will receive one course release (25% FTE or equivalent administrative stipend), and if the assignment continues in the summer, one-month summer salary. Following the fellowship, participants may have opportunities to pursue grant funding, publish their work, or take on leadership roles in online learning, with continued support from SIU Online.

Are you an SIU faculty member interested in developing online academic programming? We might be able to help with that! All SIU faculty members are eligible to apply for development funds through SIU Extended Campus. All applications are submitted online to the D2L course found at Discover - Southern Illinois University (siu.edu). Please self-enroll into the "Online Dev. Grant Submission" course, noting the appropriate term (F = Fall and S = Spring) and year. The PDFs below are provided to fill in electronically, print out, and obtain signaturers. (E-signatures are also acceptable.)
