Quick Connect: Virtual Office Hours for Online Teaching
Dr. Wegmann will host Virtual Office Hours for Online Instructors every Monday and Thursday, from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m.
These sessions are open to all faculty but are especially tailored to those teaching online. Each session will focus on different aspects of online pedagogy, providing practical solutions and insights into challenges you may face in the virtual classroom.
Weekly topics include:
- Effective Online Assessments
- Ensuring Regular and Substantive Interaction
- Strategies for Student Engagement
- Integrating AI Tools in Online Teaching

These 60-minute Teams sessions empower SIU online instructors with resources and insights to enhance teaching, highlight key topics in online education, and foster collaboration for teaching growth and student success. Open to all SIU online faculty.

Applications for Online Course/Program Development.
Are you an SIU faculty member interested in developing online academic programming? We might be able to help with that! All SIU faculty members are eligible to apply for development funds through SIU Extended Campus. All applications are submitted online to the D2L course found at Discover - Southern Illinois University (siu.edu). Please self-enroll into the "Online Dev. Grant Submission" course, noting the appropriate term (F = Fall and S = Spring) and year. The PDFs below are provided to fill in electronically, print out, and obtain signaturers. (E-signatures are also acceptable.)

Center for Teaching Excellence
The Center for Teaching Excellence will serve as the one central unit for providing faculty and staff with expert assistance in sound pedagogy and technology enhancement for on-campus and distance education. The Center will build on the teaching and technology support provided by Instructional Support Services by transforming the goals and objectives of that unit to meet the changing needs of faculty in teaching and learning.
