December 1 is the deadline for most campus-based scholarships. Private scholarships have their own timeframes.

Standard undergraduate tuition is $321.25 a credit hour.

Standard graduate tuition is $469.50 a credit hour.

Online students pay some mandatory fees, but not the same fees as on-campus students.

Here's a tuition calculator to help you plan:

Off-Campus and Online Tuition and Fee Charges

Students enrolled in certain off-campus and online courses are assessed the following tuition and fees for those courses whose section numbers are in the range of 900 through 999.  The tuition rate is equivalent to the corresponding on-campus rate that the student would be charged if taking on-campus courses as an Illinois resident and, for undergraduates, will be subject to the same guarantees as the on-campus rates.  The fees consist of the Information Technology Fee, the Student Services Building Fee, the Student-to-Student Grant Fee (for undergraduates), and a Distance Learning Fee. Use the tuition calculator to determine total cost of attendance for off-campus or online courses and/or programs.

Alternate Tuition Rate for Active Duty Servicemembers

Active Duty Servicemembers, in all branches, and including Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) and Guard and Reserve members called to Active Duty, are offered an alternate tuition rate equal to the maximum benefit provided to them under the Department of Defense’s Military Tuition Assistance Program (TA).

SIUC Military Tuition Assistance (TA) Refund Policy

Military Tuition Assistance (TA) is awarded to a servicemember under the assumption that the servicemember will attend school for the entire period for which the assistance is awarded. If a servicemember withdraws from a course, the servicemember will no longer be eligible for the Military TA funds originally awarded.

To comply with Department of Defense policy, Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) will return any unearned TA funds on a 100%, 50% and 10% proportional basis through the 60% portion of the period for which the funds were provided. A Tuition Assistance Refund Schedule has been established for each term as course offerings can vary in length in a given term. SIUC will return any unearned Military TA funds provided directly to the military service, not the service member. The servicemember is responsible for any bursar account balance created by the return of unearned TA funds to the military service.

For any course considered a “no-show” in which a student earns a grade of NS, a full refund of tuition will be credited to the servicemember’s bursar account. SIUC will return any unearned Military TA funds provided directly to the military service, not to the servicemember.

If the servicemember is called to duty or needs to return for medical treatment, the University's Military Leave Policy has been set forth to provide the servicemember with solutions for completion of courses to ensure no student debt is incurred.
